"behind the silence" is a handcut paper collage that is the first piece from the artist to experiment with something that's not paper: sharpie. The sharpie work connects the dots between what one wants to hide and what one wants to openly share without the fear of judgement and criticism. Strength is sometimes the only option one has. "behind the silence" is a testament to those quiet battles one faces behind closed doors, off of social media, when their cell phone is on "Do Not Disturb" and airplane mode, without talking to anybody. This piece is a powerful visual narrative that explores themes of inner strength, silence, and introspection. The juxtaposition of vibrant, cosmic elements with delicate human figures suggests a tension between the inner and outer worlds. The eyes in the collage serve as windows to deeper emotions and unspoken truths, with one eye gazing into the vastness of space, while another looks towards nature and the door, symbolizing contemplation and perception.
