Artist Notes
"Times change
but be not afraid.
You will again rise
in the eyes
of the kingdom
of freedom
and heaven."
Poem written by Katrina Loos, April 28, 2024
This handcut paper collage depicts a dancing woman splitting her spirit. A budding self-portrait of the artist's inner universe, the stripes on her shirt hold her together as she meditates and sees through all. She is afraid yet courageous in her journey of constant change and personal growth in a timeless world she can't belong in. She dances over her fears. She joyfully sings with her evolution. She honors her womanhood. She respects her past. She welcomes her future. She is blossoming in her becoming. Through the Eye of Freedom and the Trinity of humanness, the subject accepts time as her trusted companion, her partner in crime, her biggest accountability partner, her most passionate lover.
