🌌 “Mira/cle.” Reborn July 5, 2024.

“Mira/cle” is a handcut analog collage inspired by Omicron Ceti. Omicron Ceti was the first variable star to ever be identified. She was named Mira, or ‘the Wonderful.’ In some years, Mira has failed to become brighter than the 5th magnitude. On average, it’s only visible by the naked eye for about 18 weeks out of its 47-week period of being seen. A red-giant star estimated to be 200–300 light-years from the Sun in the constellation Cetus. The variability of Mira was recorded by the astronomer David Fabricius beginning on August 3, 1596. Mira perseveres and progresses through difficult times. She expands her consciousness through connecting with the Earth and the stars. She is a master of duality, working with logic and emotion as yin and yang. At her brightest, she is one of the brightest stars in the sky. At its dimmest, she is invisible, and a telescope is needed to see her. Despite her inevitable fall into dimness, her light still shines bright not just for those who still will to see her through another lens: she still shines for herself. When she reincarnates from one Self to the other, she pierces through the bubble veil, stronger than ever before.
